Suspected bandits have launched a fresh attack on Kasheshi Kura village in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area of Zamfara State, abducting five residents and rustling four cows.
The incident reportedly occurred around 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2025.
According to a report shared on Monday by security analyst, Zagazola Makama, via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the assault may be connected to the activities of one Ibrahim Shaibu, popularly known as “Gwanda,” a local member of the Community Protection Guard (CPG).
Gwanda, who had previously worked with operatives of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) before their withdrawal from the area, is believed to be the target of a possible retaliatory move by the assailants.
Sources in the community said the bandits might have attacked in response to Gwanda’s past involvement in security operations against them.
Security agencies have since intensified surveillance and deployment in surrounding villages, while efforts are underway to rescue the abducted persons and recover the stolen livestock.
