The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed social media reports alleging an attack on one Lt. Ahmed Yerima at the NNPC Junction along Kubwa Expressway, describing the claims as false and misleading.
The rebuttal followed publications by an Instagram blogger, “Mazitundeednut,” who alleged that the officer was assaulted by police operatives at the location. The Command clarified that no such incident occurred.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, on 17th November 2025, the incident in question took place on 16th November 2025 at about 6:15 p.m. when a police patrol team, conducting routine stop-and-search duties at NNPC Junction, intercepted an ash-coloured Toyota Camry with fully tinted windows and a concealed number plate.
The statement noted that, in accordance with standard operational procedure, the officers approached the vehicle and politely requested the occupant’s identity and explanation for the concealments. The occupant reportedly refused to identify himself, made several calls, and wound up the tinted windows without cooperating with the officers.
A few minutes later, three naval personnel arrived at the scene and identified the occupant as their colleague. They were also observed taking video and picture recordings of the encounter before leaving. Upon receiving this confirmation, the police team allowed the vehicle to proceed and continued its operations without incident.
The Command expressed surprise that the encounter was later twisted into what it described as “maliciously crafted tales” and allegations of assassination.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller Dantawaye, Psc., urged residents and visitors to cooperate with police officers carrying out lawful duties and avoid spreading unverified information capable of inciting fear and anxiety within the society.
