APC factional group disowns Akeredolu, Adetimehin, supports Oshiomhole

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, under the aegis of Unity Group, have declared support for the party’s National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole.

In a press statement signed and made available to newsmen in Akure by Ahlaji Ali Olanusi, the factional members of the party disowned Mr Ade Adetimehin and his group, saying they have lost legitimacy.

The Unity Group led by a former deputy governor and a member of APC’s Board of Trustees (BOT), Olanusi, boasted that he has the majority members of APC in Ondo State on his side.

The vote of confidence passed on the National Chairman by the Unity Group is coming barely few days after the state chairman of the party in Ondo State, Mr Ade Adetimehin and his group, who are loyal to governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu joined some other state chairmen of the ruling All Progressive Congress to call for the resignation of the National Chairman of the party comrade Oshiomhole.

“The only reason Mr Ade Adetimehin was emboldened to join the failed coup to remove Oshiomhole is because the National Working Committee (NWC) is yet to punish him for anti-party activities. This is a man who parades himself as chairman of APC in Ondo State but publicly campaigned for another political party, Action Alliance (AA), in the 2019 general elections.

“Instructively, recent political activities of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu are clear signals that the governor wants to destroy Ondo State APC before jumping ship to another party.

“Finally, while saluting the party for upholding the suspension of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, we call on the National Chairman and the National Working Committee (NWC) to immediately dissolve the Ade Adetimehin-led State Executive Committee (SEC) of Ondo APC in line with the provisions of Article 13.4 (XVI) and (XVII) of party’s constitution.”, Olanusi said.
