The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Mariya Mahmoud, has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress will emerge victorious in the forthcoming Area Council elections in the FCT.
Mahmoud spoke at the flag-off of the APC e-registration exercise held at the Apo Community Town Hall, where she said the unity and cooperation within the party clearly show its strength ahead of the polls. According to her, the level of cohesion among party members is a strong signal that the APC is well positioned to win the election.
She described the e-registration exercise as an important step towards strengthening the party, noting that it goes beyond increasing membership. Mahmoud said the exercise would help update the party’s database, improve internal organisation and give members a stronger voice in shaping the party’s future.
The minister also praised the APC leadership for adopting technology to improve transparency and encourage wider participation, especially among young people. She urged eligible residents of the FCT, including youths, women and persons living with disabilities, to take part in the registration process to help deepen democracy.
Mahmoud reaffirmed the party’s support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that grassroots participation remains key to building a strong and people-oriented party. The FCT APC Chairman, Abdulmalik Usman, also said the exercise aligns with the President’s directive to update party membership nationwide, adding that the large turnout shows the APC’s growing strength in the territory.
