Another aircraft skids off Lagos airport runway

 

On Saturday morning, an aircraft belonging to XEJet Airlines, which departed from Abuja, experienced a runway mishap at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Ikeja, Lagos.

According to a report obtained by journalists in Lagos, the incident involved the XeJet E145 aircraft bearing registration number 5NBZZ. The aircraft veered off runway 18L and into the grass verge during its landing at approximately 11:29 a.m.

The aircraft had 52 passengers and three crew members.

The airport fire and rescue teams were on ground to help in the evacuation of the passengers.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has confirmed the incident on its verified Instagram account.

The NSIB also said the bureau’s ‘Go Team’ had been deployed to the scene for evacuation of passengers and crew members

At the moment, Runway 18L is closed to traffic.
