Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has approved the appointment of Professor Msughter Amua as the first Vice Chancellor of the newly created Benue State University of Agriculture, Science and Technology, located in Ihugh.
The announcement was made on Saturday in Makurdi through a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula.
In the same statement, it was revealed that eight other individuals were appointed to serve in various government institutions.
Dr. Johnson Echor was named the new Registrar of the university, while Mr. James Ormye and Dr. Demekaa Umbur were chosen as Bursar and Librarian.
In addition to those appointments, Professor Boniface Ode has been selected to lead the College of Education in Oju as Provost.
A similar position was given to Dr. Tyodoo Iyue, who will now serve as Provost of the College of Education in Katsina-Ala.
The governor also approved the appointment of Mr. Joseph Kwaghgba as acting Chairman of the Benue Internal Revenue Service.
Other names on the list include Anta Igbaato, who is to serve as acting General Manager of the Benue State Sanitation Authority, and Bem Tseem, now acting Executive Secretary of the Teaching Service Board.
All the appointments are expected to take effect from July 7.
According to the statement, the new officials were chosen based on their work history and experience.
Some of the appointees, including the acting chairman of the revenue board and the acting head of the Teaching Service Board, have been directed to return to the Head of Service after their term ends, where they will be assigned new roles.
The acting General Manager of the sanitation authority is to report to the governor’s office when required.
