Residents of Akwa Ibom State, including those from the Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District, have reportedly shown support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno as their preferred candidates for the 2027 general elections.
This decision was made known during a public gathering in the state.
The announcement came during the second phase of a constituency empowerment programme organized by Akpabio, which was held to support over 3,000 individuals and also commission various projects within the senatorial district.
The event drew a large turnout, and Akpabio reportedly asked the crowd to publicly show their support for the trio, which was met with loud approval.
During the gathering, Akpabio noted that the peaceful atmosphere in Akwa Ibom has attracted positive attention from President Tinubu, adding that the unity between the federal leadership and the state government has contributed to the progress being witnessed in the area.
The empowerment event also featured the distribution of items such as mini buses, cars, tricycles, refrigerators, and sewing machines.
In addition to these, scholarships and financial assistance amounting to more than N2 billion were reportedly given to residents from the three senatorial districts in the state.
The endorsement of Tinubu for a second term as president, Akpabio for re-election to the Senate, and Eno for another term as governor appears to be a strategic political move as preparations for the 2027 elections begin to take shape in Akwa Ibom.
