Ondo State, Nigeria—Residents of Erusu Akoko in the Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State have expressed deep gratitude to the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for restoring electricity supply to their community after nearly three months of total blackout.
Starnews NG reports that the timely intervention has brought immense relief to the townspeople who had endured significant hardships during the prolonged power outage.
According to Veracity, the community had been plunged into darkness after a fault developed in its transformer, severely affecting both homes and businesses and crippling economic and social activities. Community leaders revealed that multiple efforts to resolve the issue had been unsuccessful until the Minister of Interior stepped in.
Sources indicate that Tunji-Ojo, affectionately known as BTO, intervened by replacing the faulty transformer using his personal resources and undertook all expenses, ultimately leading to the complete restoration of electricity supply to the town.
The traditional ruler of Erusu Akoko, Oba Sunday Mogaji (Imole I), commended the minister for his timely intervention, describing it as “people-oriented and impactful.” He noted that the restoration had brought significant relief to residents, particularly artisans, traders, and students who had suffered the consequences of the prolonged blackout.
Speaking on behalf of the council of chiefs and the townspeople, the monarch offered prayers for the minister, emphasising that the community would not forget this generous act.
Residents echoed their gratitude, lauding Tunji-Ojo as a compassionate leader who consistently identifies with the plight of his people and responds promptly to their needs.
With electricity supply now restored, commercial and social activities in Erusu Akoko are gradually returning to normal, marking the end of weeks of hardship for the community, even as the world celebrates Christmas.
