The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) president, Joe Ajaero, has raised concerns about the challenges workers face in securing the N70,000 minimum wage amidst Nigeria’s economic crisis.
During the NLC Youth Council delegates’ conference in Abuja, Ajaero pointed to the rising cost of essential goods and services, such as food, transport, and housing, as evidence of growing inequality in the country.
He also stressed the widening wealth gap, describing how the rich benefit disproportionately while many workers struggle to meet basic needs.
Ajaero urged the youth to take an active role in building a fairer society through unity and determination.
The NLC announced plans to establish youth executive councils in every state to address employment challenges and promote youth participation in the labor movement.
Ajaero reaffirmed the union’s commitment to supporting young people in their efforts to create a better future.
