An Air Peace aircraft operating Flight P47190 from Lagos veered slightly off the runway after landing at the Port Harcourt International Airport on Sunday morning.
The airline, in a statement released by its spokesperson, Osifo-Whiskey Efe, confirmed that the aircraft had what it described as a “runway excursion” upon touching down in Port Harcourt. Despite the deviation, the landing was completed safely, and there was no damage to the aircraft.
“All passengers disembarked safely and without panic. There were no injuries recorded,” the statement assured.
Air Peace reiterated its commitment to safety, emphasizing that it continues to adhere to strict operational standards across its flight services. “The safety of our passengers and crew remains our top priority,” the airline added.
This incident follows a previous occurrence on May 11, when another Air Peace aircraft encountered a wildlife hazard at the Asaba International Airport. The plane, during taxiing, collided with a large antelope, which led to temporary flight disruptions.
Commenting on the May event, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Michael Achimugu, noted that while wildlife strikes are often unpredictable, airlines must still ensure they manage passenger experiences appropriately.
