Afenifere Denies Endorsing Tinubu For Second Term

The Afenifere Diaspora USA has denied claims that it has endorsed President Bola Tinubu for re-election in 2027.

The group said a statement made by Chief Omololu Abagun, suggesting such support, is false and misleading.

In a statement released on May 4, 2025, Afenifere Diaspora USA made it clear that no decision to back Tinubu has been made.

They explained that major decisions like this require broad consultation within the organisation, not the actions of one person acting alone.

The group also questioned the authenticity of Abagun’s statement, asking where the official communique was and who signed it.

They further responded to Abagun’s claim that Tinubu is not a Yoruba president by pointing out that, in reality, Tinubu’s appointments have heavily favoured Yoruba individuals, including people from Kogi and Kwara states, over other regions.

Afenifere Diaspora USA reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, justice, and equity.

They warned the public that Abagun and his associates have no official standing within Afenifere’s leadership and should not be seen as speaking for the group.
