Adeleke Acknowledges Internal Struggles Within Osun PDP Amidst Party Crisis

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has openly recognized the presence of party members working against his re-election within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), following the recent resignation of House of Representatives member, Mr. Wole Oke.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mr. Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to the people of Osun, assuring the party’s supporters that his focus remains on delivering the promised dividends of democracy. He also called for loyalty and unity within the party as it navigates internal challenges.

Regarding Oke’s departure, Adeleke reassured the party that it had not lost any genuine supporters, stating, “We are fully aware of how we came to power, including those who tried to hinder us and those who opposed us in the past but have now aligned themselves with our governance.”

He added, “We also have a list of individuals who have remained opposed to us since 2022. Despite this, the party has grown, attracting new members, including many defectors from the opposition. Our strength and support base have only increased.”

Adeleke attributed the expansion of the PDP to the success of his administration, which he claimed has benefitted all constituencies, noting that federal constituencies were fairly represented in his cabinet. He highlighted the inclusive nature of his administration’s infrastructure plans and local content programs, aimed at providing equal opportunities across the state.

The governor reassured party members that his administration’s priority is grassroots mobilization, emphasizing that the will of the people would prevail. He also stated that the ongoing issues within the local government system would be resolved in line with the rule of law.
