Adekunle Gold Rewards First-Class Graduates

Nigerian Afrobeats star, Adekunle Kosoko, popularly known as Adekunle Gold, has awarded the sum of ₦250,000 each to several Nigerian graduates who bagged First-Class honours in their respective fields of study.

The gesture, which has attracted widespread commendation, began on Tuesday after the music star made a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), requesting First-Class graduates to share their academic transcripts.

“If you graduated with First-Class, post your transcript,” he wrote.

The post sparked a massive response, with hundreds of Nigerian youths uploading screenshots of their results. Hours later, selected individuals began receiving credit alerts of ₦250,000, which they shared online in appreciation.

One recipient, in a now-viral post, wrote, “I literally had 1,700 naira before this. Thank you so much @adekunleGOLD.” Another user, who graduated with a First-Class over a decade ago, expressed surprise that she was still considered for the reward.

While Adekunle Gold did not immediately disclose the number of beneficiaries or the total amount disbursed, screenshots of transfers and messages of gratitude have continued to trend online.

This philanthropic move is consistent with the singer’s track record of giving back to society. Through the Adekunle Gold Foundation, he previously launched the “5-Star Care” initiative, offering scholarships and free health insurance to individuals living with sickle cell disorder—a condition he personally lives with.

The musician’s latest gesture has sparked conversations about youth support and the recognition of academic excellence in a country where such achievements often go unnoticed.

Adekunle Gold’s act of generosity comes weeks after popular TikToker, Peller, offered a ₦500,000 monthly salary for a cameraman and ended up hiring two master’s degree holders—another social media-driven intervention that caught public attention.
