Accept Your Fate, Shehu Sani Tells Impeached Lagos Speaker, Obasa

Former Nigerian senator, Shehu Sani, has called on Mudashiru Obasa, the impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, to embrace his removal with dignity and move on.

Obasa, who was ousted by lawmakers while in the United States, has been replaced by Deputy Speaker Mojisola Meranda. However, upon his return, Obasa dismissed the impeachment as unconstitutional, insisting that he remains the legitimate Speaker.

Reacting to the development, Sani, via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, urged Obasa to handle the situation with grace. “Hon. Obasa should thank God, accept his fate, and remain calm. Holding that position for such a long time is a rare privilege,” he wrote.

Sani further remarked, “Not everyone gets such an opportunity in life. Let the Honourable Lady Speaker perform her duties. If he has truly done well, history will judge him kindly.”
