The African Action Congress (AAC) has demanded the immediate release of Ganiyu Mohammed Ajowa, the Special Adviser on Special Duties and Strategy to Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Ajowa was allegedly abducted and detained by the Nigerian Police at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja for several days without trial or legal consultation.
According to the party, this was discovered by its National Leader, Omoyele Sowore, and its legal team.
The AAC has strongly condemned the police’s actions, calling them acts of oppression and impunity. It demands Ajowa’s immediate release or his prompt arraignment in court in accordance with the law.
In a statement signed by former AAC gubernatorial candidate Kunle Wizeman Ajayi, the party criticized the Nigerian Police for violating legal procedures by detaining citizens without due process.
The statement questioned why security agencies would abduct individuals without informing their legal representatives or family members, describing such actions as an abuse of power.
The AAC reaffirmed its stance against all forms of oppression, stating that it will continue to resist any attempt to use state forces to intimidate or violate the rights of citizens.
The party called on the authorities to respect the rule of law and ensure justice is upheld.
