Efforts by candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 19 gubernatorial election in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to make inroads into Edo Central Senatorial District, suffered a set back as he was allegedly rejected and sent out of the palace of the Onojie of Igueben, HRH Ehizojie Eluojierior II on Monday, Starnews NG has learnt.

A palace source who witnessed the humiliation of the APC candidate, who was in the company of the former national chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole, said the unwanted visitors were told to leave Esan land as the APC neglected the region for the eight years that Oshiomhole was the governor of the state.

The source who pleaded not to be named, said: “The two unwanted visitors engaged in hot exchange of unpleasant words in Igueben after they were told to leave Esan land by the Monarch who had converged on Igueben for the cold reception.”

“In the ensuing hot exchange of words, Ize-Iyamu allegedly blamed Oshiomhole for his woes in Esan land and other parts of Edo State where they allegedly faced similar rejection, since the party commenced campaigns in Edo State.

The Nigerian Observer reports that Oshiomhole was overheard, saying, “he should not be blamed for all Ize-Iyamu’s problems. The former APC national chairman said there can not be smoke without a fire, and he told the governorship candidate to be courageous enough to take responsibility for some of his past actions.”

The monarch also cited the humiliation and dethronement of the Onojie of Uromi, His Royal Highness Anselm Aidenojie 11, as part of their alleged offence.
