29-year-old Nigerian arrested in U.S immigration crackdown on violent offenders

A 29-year-old Nigerian national, Oluwaseun Kassim, has been arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as part of a nationwide operation targeting undocumented immigrants with violent criminal records.

Kassim was taken into custody in Chicago after being convicted of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in Kankakee County, Illinois.

Kassim case was listed among the most serious in the recent enforcement action, which focused on individuals considered threats to public safety.

Speaking on the operation, Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said, “President Trump and Secretary Noem will not allow criminal illegal aliens to terrorize American citizens. Our ICE officers are removing predators—like those convicted of sexual abuse—from American communities.”

The arrest forms part of a wider ICE initiative that has led to the detention of over 100,000 undocumented immigrants with criminal backgrounds.
