In Iyaganku, Ibadan, a chief magistrates’ court has ordered the remand of 28-year-old Dauda Yusuf at the Agodi correctional facility.
This directive follows allegations of burglary and theft leveled against him, although his address remains undisclosed.
Dauda is facing a three-count charge, including conspiracy, breaking and entering, and theft. Chief Magistrate O. O. Ogunkanmi cited jurisdictional constraints as the reason for the defendant’s remand.
Ogunkanmi stated that Dauda will remain in custody pending the issuance of legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
As a result, she adjourned the matter until June 25 for further proceedings.
The police prosecutor, Cpl. David Adepoju, had told the court that the defendant allegedly conspired with others at large to commit the offence.
Adepoju said the defendant, between March 17 and 18, from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., allegedly with the intent to steal broke into the dwelling house of Peter Fayose.
Fayose was represented by Thomas Lucky.
The prosecutor said the defendant allegedly stole cable wires, sockets and switches and distribution board valued N5 million, and committed the offence at Orita Challenge in Ibadan.
He said the offences contravened sections 390 (9), 411 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
