22-year-old sentenced to two years for stealing iron rods

An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan has sentenced Abdulraheem Abbas, 22, to two years in prison for stealing iron rods worth N250,000.

Abbas, whose address was not provided, pleaded guilty to the theft charge.

Magistrate Maruff Mudashiru sentenced him to two years of hard labor at the Agodi Correctional Centre in Ibadan.

Prosecutor Inspector Femi Oluwadare stated that Abbas committed the crime on June 3 at around 2:00 a.m. in the Ologuneru area of Ibadan. The stolen iron rods belonged to Salaudeen Gafar and were meant to cover drainage for vehicle passage.

The offence contravenes Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
