20th Anniversary: MTN gives free data, releases code for activation

As MTN gears up towards its 20th anniversary, a cross section of Nigerians have sent celebratory messages to the telecoms company.

The ICT and telecoms company began operations in Nigeria in 2001.

A statement noted that after 20 years, MTN had become an integral part of the country’s telecommunications success story.

It stated that many Nigerians highlighted how the company had contributed positively to their lives.

An alumnus of MTN scholarship, Samuel Adekoya, was quoted as crediting it with providing him with the right platform to excel academically.

He said, “The scholarship allowed me to concentrate on my studies and provided me with extra motivation to attain my first-class goal in Accounting. I am eternally grateful to MTN and wish the company another 20 years of success in Nigeria.”

MTN is also set to reconstruct the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway under the Road Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme.

Starnews Nigeria reports that MTN has already sent out messages to all its customers notifying them of a free 200MB for all data activities to mark its 20th anniversary.

To enjoy the data, MTN customers are required to dial *556# on their phone.

Starnews Nigeria correspondent who received the SMS said he has tried it and has been rewarded for the use of the data which would expire on 8/8/2021 at 11:59 PM according to MTN.

The message by MTN reads: “Y’ello, It’s MTN 20th Anniversary! You have been rewarded with FREE 200MB for all data activities.Expires 08/08/2021 23:59:00! Bal: Dial *556#. Enjoy!”
