The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has called for unity and cooperation among political leaders in Rivers State to ensure more development for the people.
Wike made the call during a thank-you visit to Andoni Local Government Area, as part of his tour across the state to appreciate residents for their support for President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 general elections and to seek continued backing ahead of 2027.
He said the visit to Andoni marked another stop on the tour, noting that leaders of major political parties in the state had come together under what he described as a Rainbow Coalition.
According to Wike, unity among political leaders has brought positive changes, stressing that development can only thrive when leaders work together. He urged community leaders to remain united and present a common front in supporting Tinubu in the next election.
“See what unity has done. It is no longer a time when one man will decide what good will come to Andoni. By the unity of the leaders, more development will come to Andoni,” Wike said.
He added that Rivers State politics was now beyond party lines, insisting that support for Tinubu in 2027 was non-negotiable. “We must continue to support Ahmed Bola Tinubu. There is no negotiation about that,” he said.
Wike also noted that issues concerning local politics would be addressed later, adding that mistakes made in the last election would be corrected.
Earlier, the Chairman of Andoni Local Government Area, Lucky Otuo, thanked the minister for visiting the community and assured him of the people’s continued support for Tinubu.
Otuo said the people of Andoni were grateful and committed to standing by their decision in 2027. “Andoni people will vote for Mr President. Tinubu is our mandate, and anyone who does not believe in our mandate will see fire,” he said.
