INEC fixes date for party primaries ahead of Ondo, Edo guber polls
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed date for party primaries and nomination of candidates for the Edo and Ondo governorship elections slated for September 19 and October 10 respectively. The party primaries for Edo state will hold from 2nd to 27th June, while that of Ondo State will hold from 2nd to 25th July. The Nation reports that INEC National Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, made the disclosure during the Commission’s meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners, and warned that the Commission will not shift the dates. Deregisters 74 Political Parties INEC-boxThe Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed September 19, 2020 for Edo Governorship Election and October 10, 2020 for Ondo Governorship election. INEC announced this on Thursday through a tweet by Rotimi Oyekanmi, Media Adviser and Chief Press Secretary to the commission’s chairman, Yakubu Mahmood. According to Oyekanmi, the commission has also registered 74 political parties.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is to publish names of candidates and their particulars for Kogi and Bayelsa governorship elections today, The Nation gathered on Thursday.
