Text: Luke 1:36-37; Luke 7:11-17

The story gives the account of two different scenarios. One of life and the other of death; one of sorrow, another joy; one of impossibility and another of possibility.

Jesus was coming inside the city to a place called Nain. Nain is a small town about 25 miles to Capernaum (E.g. Fredrick Maryland) it was out of the way. Jesus was a man of purpose, and everything he did had a purpose. He was there by a divine appointment.

This lady was a widow. Being a widow is one of the most traumatic events a human being can go through: According to Holmes Stress event. It is the most stressful thing a person can ever go through in life. Her economic situation is worse, she is very poor, and to compound the story, her son died. According to Stress level scale, she will be over 300. (Getting ready to have a nervous breakdown.)

Truths to Know:

God will always find a way to make His divine appointment with you. As Christ was coming in, He met the funeral procession. Burial Customs of the Jews. Outside the city within 24 hours. The procession had professional mourners. Loud crying and wailing.

Jesus interrupted them. Jesus will break all the rules to fix your problems. He will go against the status quo; He will go against human tradition to see that your problem is solved.

God wants you to know that He has Compassion for you and He cares about you. Compassion means to have deep awareness of the suffering of another person. Sharing in His suffering.
God is aware of your situation. He feels your pain, He feels your sorrow. You are not alone; He is not like human beings that will leave you. He has a genuine care for you.

God wants you to Stop Crying and Stop Worrying.
Christ broke another rule here.
Worrying will make the devil happy at our cause.
It will stress us out.Whatever you are going through, Stop Crying. All that disappointment, stop crying. That pain and sorrow, stop crying. The bad news, stop crying. The situation with your family, the marriage breakdown, financial distress, being a single mother, looking for a baby, looking for a job, looking for a husband,

He wants you to know that He has the power to turn your hopeless situation around.

Jesus told the boy, get up.

All power in heaven and on earth has been given to Jesus. (Matt 11:28; Matt 28:
At mention of His name, every knee shall bow. At the mention of His name your sorrow, distress, pain, problems, sickness, disappointment, marriage breakup, barrenness, addiction, affliction, trial, tribulations, Christ is telling you today, Arise, you are not going down, the problem will not consume you, people in the world may say it is over, doctors, lawyers, friends, family, husband, wives, boss, society, government may say it is over. It is not over for you, as long as Jesus is alive; He is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow. He is the I am that I am, that cannot change. The unchangeable changer. The one to effect change in your life. Things may seem impossible, but with Him it is possible. What you are passing through is a test. You are being tried by fire. And you will come out as good as gold.

God does not want you to give up. He wants you to trust in His promises.

You are going through a refining process.
2 Cor. 4:7, 1Peter 1:6-8, 1Cor. 10:13)

2 Cor. 4:7

7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair
9  Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

1 Peter 1:6-8

6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

1 Cor. 10:13

13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
