On this day, February 18, Dr Eddy Eniola Olafeso, who holds the Chieftaincy title of Oloroogun (Warlord), a first-class graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University was born in Okitipupa, Ondo State.

Dr Olafeso is the Southwest Zonal Liaison Desk Officer of the Atiku Okowa Presidential Campaign Council and a former National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-West.

In this interview with Akinrinlola Olumide, he spoke about his life accomplishments, and challenges. He also spoke about the February 25, 2023, general elections and the chances of the PDP in the Southwest, amid Governor Seyi Makinde’s decision not to support Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the PDP.

You are celebrating another birthday today, what are your accomplishments so far?

At my Age, I raised my Children, God granted me the privilege to make them have a better life and sound education, touching people’s lives within my community and generally, living with honour and integrity.

Can you share some of your life challenges?

Without those challenges, I could not be where I am, so I don’t consider them negative, they are part of the hurdles you have to cross as a man to get to where you are. For me, it has been a privilege, God has been truly faithful, He fights my battle for me and all I can do is to thank Him and live my life in total devotion to Him.

What is your birthday wish or wishes today?

A better society, a better Nigeria, a country that can give hope and aspirations to the millions of people that are made despondent by poor governance and the insensitivity of the ruling APC that deals a lot with the political atmosphere in this country. I just pray to God that God will give Nigeria a wonderful Leader who will change things around for us.

Do you have any message for the country or INEC on the 2023 general elections?

Vote out your tormentors! Vote out APC, vote out the destructive, financial, and economic policy of APC, and vote out the killer herdsmen and bandits that are just destroying people’s farms. I believe that Nigerians will do the needful, they should vote for Waziri Atiku Abubakar, who I believe has prepared himself enough to be able to save Nigeria from this realm or form of wretchedness.

With the current division in the South West PDP, especially with the tactical approval of the presidential ambition of Bola Ahmed Tinubu by Governor Seyi Makinde, do you think Atiku can win the election in South West?

(Exclaims) Ah!, The Governor is One Person. How about the millions of people, I was in Oyo on the 4th and 5th of this month. What part of it do we need? Governor Makinde has only one vote. Oyo people will speak by next week Saturday. Power belongs to God and the People. I have been around the nooks and crannies of the South West and I know for sure that the SouthWest is not an Empty Nest for Waziri Atiku Abubakar. We are going to do very well in the election and many of our critics will be surprised. The G-5 are fighting for themselves, they are fighting for their own and not for the South West. How can somebody in his wildest imagination say that APC is fair and equitable when virtually all their appointments come from one part of the country? That is what Atiku tends to change for us, that is what he is going to do by bringing Equity, Fairness, and Justice into the polity.

For me, whatever the Governor said is not the wish of the good people of Oyo State because he will also have his day of reckoning on Election Day. By next month, the people will also come out to vote and decide his fate as well. If a Governor is not aligned with his people, he will have himself shocked by the reality.

On the scarcity of the new naira note, it has generated unrest and crisis in some states, what is your position?

My position is that it is a very good policy executed at the wrong time and they refused to take into consideration the plight of the people, we still live in rural areas where banks are not particularly available in some places. So how can you just visit this upon the people? Yeah, I don’t know who they are targeting but now, it is the people that are the target of this very unfortunate, and tragic policy, and it is so unfortunate that we have to go through this. NO Currency! No Fuel! No Electricity, it’s sad. The country is on the brink, it is so unfortunate.
