Uzodimma Appoints New Attorney General

The Imo State government has named Barrister Gloria Egwuagu, the current Solicitor General, as the Acting Attorney General of the state.

This move was made after the State Executive Council met on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, in Owerri.

The appointment followed the removal of C.O.C Akaolisa, who had served as the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General.

Governor Hope Uzodimma’s decision to sack Akaolisa came days before the announcement of Egwuagu’s new role.

The appointment was made public through a statement released by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Oguwike Nwachuku.

Egwuagu is expected to take charge of legal affairs in the state until a permanent replacement is confirmed.
