  •  “We are ready to vote Jandor and Atiku,” they insist
  •  “Wike is enemy of PDP in Lagos”, they say

Four separate videos that went viral on the internet yesterday indicated that the Pro-Wike governors, popularly known as PDP G-5 did not achieve one of their major goals during a visit to Lagos State on Sunday, Starnews Nigeria can report.

More facts emerged from the separate videos obtained by Starnews Nigeria on Sunday night that the decision of the PDP G5 not to vote for Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate and Abdul-Azeez Olajide Jandor, the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State ahead of the 2023 general elections were vehemently rejected by party members at the venue.

“In one of the videos, a party leader from
mushin Local Government addressed Lagosians when he said, “Good day comrades, my name is Kunle Folorunso. You can see what is happening today, Chief Bode George invited the whole PDP in each local government to his office at Lugard and we believe he is trying to settle the issue on the ground with our incoming President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the PDP G-5 governors.

“But when we reached there, the G-5 governors are talking about our election and that they are going to support only Senate, reps and assembly that they don’t have a governor and president.

“But we now said no that we are not going to accept that point. We said we have Atiku but as we mentioned Atiku’s name, the BG boys came out to tear my cloth. If not for the people around, they want to shoot me. I know the people that did that. They are anti-party people. They hate the PDP. They have been doing anti-party for the past 22 years in Lagos and they are now showing their faces.

“Wike didn’t love us. He has already told the whole world that the governor of APC in Lagos is his own candidate. I want the whole PDP to know that Wike is the enemy of the PDP in Lagos. Everybody should know that.

“I beg everybody to come, and let them be ashamed. And by February by the grace of God, when Atiku wins the election, they will be ashamed for the rest of their lives. And I want the whole PDP to know that this is what BG, Chief Bode George did to me today because I mentioned Atiku’s name. I am from Mushin Local Government, that’s what they did to me”, Kunle said in the video, while the crowd was shouting Atiku is our president in the background.

In another video watched by Starnews Nigeria, angry youths at the meeting’s venue were seen shouting ‘up Atiku’ when the meeting of the five aggrieved PDP Governors, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Nyesom Wike, (Rivers), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde, (Oyo), and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) were ongoing. Party members were seen outside the venue jumping up continuously and were shouting “up Atiku”.

The third video revealed how some Lagosians were walking out from a rally organised by some PDP members who are loyal to the G-5 governors. Starnews Nigeria gathered that the rally was intended to sway residents in the state not to vote for Atiku Abubakar and the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate, Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran. But it was gathered the rally was not successful as people were seen in the video walking out one after the other and were heard shouting “up Atiku, Jandor is our governor, Atiku is our president. We are ready to vote for Jandor, we will vote for Atiku.”

Starnews Nigeria had reported that the five aggrieved Peoples Democratic Party governors on Sunday met with other party heavyweights where they discussed fresh options as the hopes of reconciling with the camp of the PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, seems to be fading.

The governors are at loggerheads with Atiku over the refusal of the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, to resign.

In an enlarged meeting with the PDP stakeholders in Lagos yesterday, the Pro-Wike governors insisted that the window of reconciliation with Atiku is still open as much as Ayu will resign as the national chairman of the Party.

Speaking at the meeting, Makinde said though he and his colleagues were the faces of their struggle, it had the backing of the leaders and elders of the party who were present.

He stated, “We are here this morning to hold a meeting of the Integrity Group within our party, the PDP. We have been of the G5 – that is, the five PDP governors. The G5 is all about the Integrity Group.

“You can see us, five serving governors, as the face of this struggle, both the leaders and elders of the party that you see here are the people behind those faces. We are in the South-West to review the situation within our party, to review where we are and to also look at what is going to happen in the coming elections.’’

At the meeting were governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers); Seyi Makinde (Oyo); Samuel Ortom (Benue); Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu); Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia); former deputy national chairman of the party, Chief Olabode George; former governors Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti); Donald Duke (Cross River), Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo), and Jonah Jang (Plateau).

Also present were a former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke; Deputy National Chairman, South of the PDP, Taofeek Arapaja; Senator Nasif Suleiman; Senator Sandy Onor and Senator Sam Ohabunwa.

The meeting was held days after the governors unveiled the PDP governorship candidate in Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara.

They had earlier held meetings in Enugu, Benue and outside the country.
