Two content creators known as TDollar and TobiNation have been sentenced to six months in prison for spraying naira notes during a party in Lagos.
The ruling came from a federal high court in Ikoyi after both were found guilty of tampering with the Nigerian currency, an action considered a crime under the Central Bank Act.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested the social media influencers after a video of them spraying N200 notes at a nightclub went viral.
The EFCC launched an investigation on April 10, 2025, based on the footage seen on TikTok.
The video, which showed TDollar distributing money to fans, prompted the anti-graft agency to invite him for questioning.
According to the EFCC, TDollar, whose real name is Babatunde Peter Olaitan, appeared at the commission’s Special Operations Team office on May 5 and gave a statement.
He said he received the money from a fan at the event and sprayed it during the celebration.
TobiNation, identified as Tobilola Olamide, was also found to have engaged in the same act at the same location — 23 Macdonald Road, Ikoyi — on April 8, 2025.
During the court proceedings, the EFCC presented video clips and written statements from the defendants as evidence.
After reviewing the materials and hearing the case, Justice Alexander Owoeye sentenced both to six months in prison.
However, each person was given the option to pay a N200,000 fine instead of serving the full jail term.
