Troops rescue seven kidnap victims in Plateau

Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have successfully rescued seven kidnapped victims in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

In a statement issued in Jos on Tuesday, OPSH Media Officer, Major Samson Zhakom, confirmed that the rescue operation took place on March 7.

He explained that troops launched an offensive in the Attakar highlands of Ganawuri district following intelligence reports that kidnappers were holding victims abducted along the Jos-Ganawuri road.

During the operation, troops engaged the kidnappers, forcing them to flee into the highlands due to superior firepower.

The soldiers also recovered a bag containing a blanket and clothing materials left behind by the fleeing criminals.

Zhakom stated that the rescued victims have been reunited with their families, and efforts are underway to track down and apprehend the kidnappers.

He urged residents to cooperate with security forces by providing useful information that could help in the fight against criminal activities in the state.
