Thunder strike killed 11 cows in Ijelu-Ekiti

At least 11 cows owned by Fulani have been killed by thunder in Ijelu Ekiti, Ekiti State, Newsflash Nigeria reports.

The deafening thunderstorm that accompanied heavy rainfall was recorded in parts of the state in the last couple of days.

The incident, which occurred at a farmstead in Ijelu-Ekiti, Oye Local Government Area of the state, it was gathered yesterday, is causing panic among residents.

Residents of the community, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals, said a bolt of deadly lightning from thunder killed the cows.

The residents called on the government to evacuate the carcasses of the cows to prevent the spread of communicable diseases in the two towns.

The Police Command in Ekiti State said the incident has not been reported to the police, “because it was a natural occurrence.
