Buhari accepts South Africa’s apology for xenophobic attacks
President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday accepted South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa’s apology to Nigeria over the persistent xenophobic attacks against Nigerians. The President, who described the attacks and violence as “very unfortunate”, assured that the relationship between the two countries “will be solidified”. President Buhari received President Ramaphosa’s Special Envoys – Dr. K. Mbatta and Jeff Radebe – who delivered their leader’s message at a meeting in Aso Villa, Abuja. Eighty-Three men, who allegedly raided, destroyed and looted the Sangotedo and Surulere shopping malls, were on Thursday brought before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos. Jude Atuamya, Kazeem Kamiru, Reuben Johnson, Mohammed Abdul Wahab and 79 others were arraigned by the police before Mr P. A. Ojo on a six-count charge of stealing, willful damage and conspiracy. Xenophobia: 10 Killed In South Africa – Ramaphosa
At least 10 people have been killed by xenophobic violence in South Africa this week, President Cyril Ramaphosa said Thursday, adding that one victim was a foreign national. “There can be no excuse for the attacks on the homes and businesses of foreign nationals,” Ramaphosa said in a speech aired on national television and radio. “Equally, there is no justification for the looting and destruction of businesses owned by South Africans.”

A mob of angry looters has invaded Shoprite in Lekki, Lagos to retaliate the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa. Nigerians in South Africa have been attacked with their buildings and businesses burnt by a mob of South Africans, alleging they were taking over their jobs and country. Though they were resisted by policemen at the outlet, they eventually gained access and started throwing away items on the stands.
