Streets deserted in Nnewi, markets under lock and key despite suspension of sit-at-home order

The Monday weekly sit-at-home directed by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in solidarity with its detained leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, continued in Onitsha and Nnewi despite its suspension by the leadership. Roads and streets in Onitsha, the commercial city and Nnewi the Industrial town of the state were completely deserted as people either willingly or out of fear stayed indoors. All markets in the two cities as usual were under lock and key, including the Onitsha Main Market and Nkwo Nnewi while banks located in the areas also shut down for customers.
