A member of Board of Trustees of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, Dr David Bourdex, on Monday asked the National Assembly not to declare vacant the Abia North Senatorial seat, occupied by Orji Uzor Kalu. Recall that a Federal High Court in Lagos had last year sentenced Kalu to 12 years’ imprisonment, for diverting the sum of N7.2bn while in office as the governor of Abia State. The convicted Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Kalu, will continue to receive his salaries and all other entitlements while in prison, the Senate has said. The Federal High Court in Lagos has convicted a former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, who was charged with N7.1bn fraud. The court found him and his co-defendants guilty of the entire 39 counts filed against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
