NJC acknowledges petition against Abia judge, begins probe

The National Judicial Council says it has commenced investigation into a petition brought before it by Civil Society Coalition for Judicial Reforms against Justice Emeka Osiagor of the Federal High Court, Umuahia Judicial Division, Abia State. The group had dragged the judge before the NJC over allegation of bias in a case with No: FHC/UM/PET/02/2018 filed on July 23, 2018, which is about winding-up proceedings on a private limited liability company, Davebenlin Nigeria Limited. The group also called on the NJC to order Justice Osiagor to withdraw from the lawsuit, which is also before the Court of Appeal in Owerri.
