Many women from oil-producing communities in Bayelsa State on Friday protested at the state office of the Niger Delta Development Commission in Yenagoa, against alleged neglect and underdevelopment of their oil impacted communities by the commission. The protesters, who came mainly from the hinterland communities, stormed the state liaison office of the commission on Mbiama-Yenagoa Road, bearing placards with several inscriptions to air their grievances and demands. Prosecute failed contractors, NDDC writes IG

The management of the Niger Delta Development Commission has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, seeking the arrest and prosecution of contractors, who collected mobilisation funds, but refused to execute contracts they got from the agency. The Managing Director of the agency, Prof. Kemebradikumo Pondei, signed the petition, dated July 29, 2020.
