Appeal Court Orders Immediate Release of Dasuki, Says Detention Illegal, Unlawful, Unconstitutional

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has declared the detention of former National Security Adviser Colonel Sambo Dasuki retired since December 29, 2015, by the Department of State Security Service (DSS) as illegal, unlawful and unconstitutional and ordered his release on conditional bail. The appellate court held that the DSS and its Director General acted outside their constitutional powers on the long period of the detention of a Nigerian citizen and imposed a fine of N5m on them to be paid to Colonel Dasuki as compensation for breach of his fundamental right. Court orders DSS to produce Dasuki

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama has ordered the issuance of a production warrant on the Department of State Services (DSS) to compel it to produce detained former National Security Adviser (NSA), Mohammed Dasuki on the next date. Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf gave the order in a ruling on Tuesday at the resumed hearing in the trial of Dasuki and some others. Court Serves Dasuki Warrant of Release On DSS, AGF

A warrant of release dated July 16, 2018 with a title ‘Verification of Bail Conditions’ and signed by Mba Nkem A. Omotosho, deputy chief registrar was served on the DSS headquarters and the office of minister of justice in Abuja after following July 2, 2018 bail order granted by a Federal High Court in Abuja. Again, FG Re-arraign Sambo Dasuki After Granted Bail

The Federal government has again re-arraigned Colonel Sambo Dasuki on Thursday at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja after he was granted bail yesterday by the same court. The Federal government based the re-arraignment on a 25 count amended charges against Dasuki, the former National Security Adviser to former President Good luck Jonathan.
