Senators To Receive N40.5m, Reps 30m As Overhead Allowances In 3 Months – Report

Payment of overhead allowances to lawmakers inaugurated on Tuesday in the first three months will increase their total allowances to N19.89bn, investigations by Saturday PUNCH has shown. The PUNCH had exclusively reported that 469 lawmakers would get N4.68bn as welcome package to sort out accommodation and furniture issues. Further investigations showed that each senator will receive N40.5m for three months as overhead allowance, with  each member of the House of Representatives  receiving N30m for the same purpose. This means that 109 senators  will get N4.41bn as overhead allowance for the first three months while the 360 Reps will get N10.8bn

Ali Ndume Predicts Danger Ahead of 9th Assembly Over Independence of Legislature

An aspirant for the President of the Senate, Mohammed Ali Ndume, has warned that the independence of the Ninth National Assembly may be under threat. He called on lawmakers to work to protect its independence to avoid turbulent sessions. Letter From Buhari For Proclamation of 9th N’Assembly Leaked, Went Viral

The Nation Newspaper has reported that Unconfirmed Presidential Proclamation document of the Ninth National Assembly suddenly surfaced on Monday in Abuja. The Proclamation document dated May 30, 2019, purportedly signed by President Muhammadu Buhari slated Tuesday, June 11, 2019, as the date for the inauguration of the Ninth National Assembly. 9th Assembly: ’51 APC Senators, 191 Reps signed for Lawan, Gbajabiamila

Senator representing Oyo North, Senator Fatai Buhari; the House of Representatives-elect for Ibadan North federal constituency, Hon. Musiliudeen Akinremi and a Civil Society Group, Gbaja for Speaker Civil Society Coalition, on Saturday in Ibadan, said Senator Ahmed Lawan and Hon.
