A song by Shakira about her ex-partner Gerard Pique for cheating on her has broken YouTube records.

The video for Out of Your League has been watched more than 63 million times in 24 hours, making it the most-watched Latin song in that time period.

Shakira, 45, separated from former Barcelona footballer Pique, 35, in 2022 after more than 10 years together.

The pair also have two children together.

The BBC has contacted Pique for comment .

This four-minute pop song is the first time Shakira and Argentinian producer and DJ Bizarrap have worked together.

Shakira joins a hallowed list of Latin performers to break YouTube records – including J Balvin, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee.

It’s not her first song about the breakup – Monotonia came out three months ago, but was more of a heartbreak song than one vying for revenge.

In the diss track, Shakira sings about Pique’s new alleged 23-year-old partner.

She says she is “worth two 22-year-olds” and compares the relationship to swapping “a Ferrari for a [Renault] Twingo” and a “Rolex for a Casio” in Spanish.

The Columbian singer also references her run-in with the Spanish authorities, who claim she has failed to pay €14.5m (£12.8m) in income tax.

Shakira appears to say in the song that Pique left her whilst all this was going on, with her in-laws as neighbours.

She criticises his workout technique too – singing “lots of time at the gym, but your brain needs a little work too”.

Gerard Pique has not responded to the song online, but has been posting about his new seven-a-side project, King’s League.

The pair released a statement when they split in June last year, saying they were focusing on co-parenting their children Milan, nine, and Sasha, aged seven.

FRSC seizes 222 trailers conveying 3,169 passengers

FRSC seizes 222 trailers conveying 3,169 passengers The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) inter-agency task force has apprehended 222 trailers transporting 3,169 passengers across Niger, Bauchi, Taraba, and Kaduna states. The task force, established to curb the transportation of passengers alongside goods, aims to reduce road traffic accidents and associated casualties caused by the reckless conduct of trailer drivers. Corps Marshal Dauda Ali-Biu announced during a press briefing in Abuja that the initiative involves collaboration with various transport unions, security agencies, and traffic management authorities. “As part of the operations, the JTF dropped over 2,440 passengers who were mandated to take alternative vehicles designed for conveying passengers. “Since the commencement of the JTF on March 23, the monster of road traffic crashes involving trailers and the fatalities that come with them have been adequately tamed and the situation arrested on all fronts,” he said. Mr Ali-Biu added that the corps had gone a step further by prosecuting recalcitrant trailer drivers aside the conventional enforcement of traffic regulations. This, he said, was done through mobile courts in the 36 states of the federation and the FCT. “Subsequently, more drastic measures, including suspension and withdrawal of the national driver’s licence, will be carried out. “Permit me to reiterate at this critical moment that, on our part, as an agency of government charged with road safety supervision, we have resolved to continue in our strive to make the nation’s highways safe. “Part of our resolve is to consolidate on the gains recorded so far through the strategic combat operations of the joint task force. “We have decided to sustain the tempo by extending the operations of the JTF to other critical corridors across the nation. “The essence of this extension is to give it a holistic approach,” the corps marshal said.
