Senate to Establish Federal College of Fisheries & Aquatic Studies in Ondo

The Senate on Wednesday began the process of establishing a Federal College of Fisheries & Aquatic Studies, Awoye, in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The Federal College of Fisheries & Aquatic Studies, Awoye, Ondo State (Establishment) Bill, 2021 ( S.B 852) sponsored by Senator Nicholas Tofowomo, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ondo South was introduced yesterday and read the first time.

Speaking on the bill, Tofowomo who noted that Ondo South has the longest coastline of about 180 kilometres, noting that there is an urgent need to establish such a very meaningful college to grow the fishery market of Nigeria which would also create employment for Nigerian youths.

Tofowomo said Awoye community is strategic for the fishery college.
