Saraki: APC Senators Are Ignorant About Nigeria Constitution –Markafi

–Promises Nigerians that PDP will restructure the country if voted into power in 2019

Former National Caretaker Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ahmed Makarfi, has said that APC senators at the National Assembly lack the understanding of the constitution regarding the affairs of the National Assembly.

Markafi stated this in Akure, the Ondo State capital, when he met with the leadership of the PDP in Ondo State at the party secretariat.

He digressed in his speech and spoke about the agitation for the removal of the Senate President Bukola Saraki by the APC senators. He explained that only two-thirds majority of the Senate could impeach the Senate President.

His words :

“I will refer the APC senators to the constitution for better understanding of the laws of our country.

“I am not surprised with their actions; it shows their ignorance about the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, because the constitution is clear about that. If they are familiar with the constitution they will know that they lack the legal powers to impeach the Senate President.

“I am sure they cannot have the two-thirds majority which the constitution requires for the impeachment of the Senate President. Our members in the senate are intelligent people who will not give lawlessness a place in the senate.”

Senator Markafi also said that the PDP will restructure Nigeria if they are voted by Nigerians to succeed the ruling APC.
