Otunba Nicholas Tofowomo, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial Candidate in Ondo South ahead of 2019 general election, has written a letter to the good people of Ondo South, promising to advocate for the implementation of Alape Sea Port under Ilaje Local Government of Ondo State if elected the next Senator of Ondo South in 2019 forth coming general election.
According to him, the Alape Sea Port Project was initiated by him and approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria when he was the Commissioner for Transport under the last administration.
In a letter he addressed to Ondo South and made available on his personal Facebook page, Tofowomo said the project was handed over to the new administration of governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu when he was leaving office as commissioner.
He lamented the lackadaisical attitude and condemned the incompetence of the administration of Akeredolu in following up with the Federal Government for the implementation of the approved project.
The letter reads:
“Dear Ondo South,
I initiated and submitted a master plan to the Federal Government for the creation of Alape Sea Port in the riverine area under Ilaje LGA of Ondo State and this was approved by the Federal Government before the end of my tenure in office as former commissioner for Transport in Ondo State.
This Project which is still in pipeline was officially handed over to APC- led Administration by me in Ondo State to follow up towards implementation when governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu took over.
Findings have shown that ever since I left office, there is no one following up with the Federal Government on the implementation of this project.
If elected as the next Senator of Ondo South under the PDP in 2019, I promise to advocate for the implementation of this project without further delay.
It is my baby. I started it and it won’t be difficult for me to advocate for the implementation if I have the mandate of my people in Ondo South to proceed to the red chamber of the National Assembly.
Otunba Nicholas Tofowomo, PDP Senatorial Candidate for Ondo South in 2019 forth coming general election.”
