Members of the Osun State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed a motion endorsing Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term in the 2026 gubernatorial election.
The vote was unanimous, with all 26 members supporting the decision.
The motion was introduced by Adewumi Adeyemi from Obokun State Constituency and seconded by Taofiq Olayiwola from Ede South State Constituency.
The endorsement took place during a plenary session where the assembly, consisting of 25 members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one member from the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed their full backing for the governor.
Speaker Adewale Egbedun led the session and praised the governor for his leadership and achievements, particularly as he marked his 65th birthday.
Egbedun acknowledged the governor’s commitment to developing the state and working towards his five-point agenda.
He urged the governor to continue his efforts and strive for further success.
During the session, Simeon Popoola, representing Boripe-Boluwaduro State Constituency, spoke highly of Adeleke, noting his integrity and sincerity, which he believes have contributed to the governor’s successful leadership.
The assembly then conducted a vote on the motion, which was carried out successfully.
