Ogun State Governor Rewards UNILAG’s Best Graduating Students with ₦10 Million Each

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has honored Samuel Badekale and Haroun Adebakin, the two Best Graduating Students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) with a perfect 5.0 CGPA from the department of cell biology and genetics, with a cash reward of ₦10 million each and an appointment as Education Ambassadors of Ogun State.

Governor Abiodun made this announcement on Friday through a post on X (formerly Twitter), commending their academic excellence and encouraging other students to aim for similar achievements.

“In Ogun State, we take immense pride in celebrating excellence, and today, we honor two outstanding young men—Samuel Badekale and Haroun Adebakin—who emerged as the best graduating students at the University of Lagos with a perfect 5.0 CGPA. Their remarkable achievement is not only a personal victory but also a moment of pride for Ogun State and Nigeria at large,” he stated.

He further emphasized the significance of their appointment as Education Ambassadors, a role in which they will inspire and mentor other students.

“To recognize their dedication and inspire future generations, we have appointed them as Education Ambassadors of Ogun State. In this role, they will engage with students, share their experiences, and encourage academic excellence. To further appreciate their hard work, we are supporting them with N10 million each as a token of our gratitude and a symbol of the limitless opportunities that come with diligence and perseverance,” Governor Abiodun added.

Highlighting the importance of education in his administration’s agenda, he reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting outstanding individuals who bring pride to the state.

“Education remains a priority in our Building Our Future Together agenda, and we will continue to honor and support exceptional individuals who make our state proud. By investing in young minds and reforming our education sector, we are equipping our future leaders with the tools to succeed and contribute meaningfully to society,” he said.

Governor Abiodun also encouraged students across the country to remain dedicated to their studies, maintain discipline, and uphold integrity, stressing that success is a product of commitment and perseverance.
