The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the purported expulsion of Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu and four loyal party officers as a media scam.

The Publicity Secretary of the party, Asiwaju Bankole Akinloye on Thursday urged the media not to allow themselves to be used for the destruction of Nigeria’s democracy by being used to propel lies and untrue information for the main aim of confusing the innocent public.

In a statement obtained by Starnews Nigeria, the party said “the attention of the State Executive Committee (SEC) of Ogun State Chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party PDP has been drawn to a laughable story circulating in the media and other social media platforms saying that Hon. Dr Oladipupo Adebutu has been expelled along with four other dedicated and loyal party officers.

“OGUN State chapter of PDP is urging the media not to allow themselves to be used for the destruction of our democracy by being used to propel lies and untrue information for the main aim of confusing the innocent public.

“The party feels journalism should be about facts and truth but now, any story can fly at any time from any individual. The effect of this will be to kill our democracy.

“On the expulsion lies, it is not in our character to stoop so low by indulging our valued efforts in diversionary pettiness. We are however compelled for the sake of posterity to put records in proper perspective so that innocent members are not bamboozled into further confusion.

“Foremost, it is important to note that Ogun State PDP unarguably functions in absolute harmony under the able Chairmanship of Alh. Sikirulai Ogundele.

“Therefore, it is laughable that any individual or/and group of persons can sit somewhere and arrogate the full constitutional powers of the State Executive to themselves.

“Again, the purported expulsion of Hon. Adebutu and others mentioned is an irrational joke laced with an unrepentant penchant for indiscipline by the identified paid mercenaries who were commissioned to hold them down and diminish their electoral value.

“For us as a discipline and law-abiding political organization, Ogun PDP remains focused on its resolve to reposition the party for electoral success. We expect to hear from the appeal court which has fixed Nov 14th, 2022 to hear our grounds of appeal.

“While trusting the Appeal Court on the expedited process, we urge all members, leaders and teeming supporters of the party to remain calm, even in the face of needless provocations. All agents provocateur shall be exposed in a due cause”, the statement added.
