Notorious Bandit Leader Hamisu Mopol Killed in Gun Battle

A dreaded bandit kingpin, Hamisu Mopol, was fatally shot during an exchange of gunfire with police officers on the outskirts of Dutsin-Ma in Katsina State.

The incident happened on Monday near the permanent site of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) while officers from the Dutsin-Ma Police Division were on a routine patrol. According to an update shared by security analyst Bakatsine via X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, the security team encountered Mopol’s group and a violent shootout ensued.

During the clash, Mopol was neutralized. He is said to be the son of Hajiya Lamiso, a woman often accused by residents of giving refuge to armed gangs. Her residence, according to locals, frequently hosted motorcycles used by suspected bandits.

Bakatsine wrote, “Police engaged bandits near FUDMA yesterday; Hamisu Mopol was eliminated. He’s reportedly the son of a woman known for allegedly harbouring criminal elements in the community.”

As of the time of filing this report, the Katsina State Police Command had not issued an official comment on the development.
