The youth wing of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked the party’s leadership to quickly step and prevent the crisis from consuming the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The opposition party’s youths wing under the auspices of PDP National Youth Movement said Nigerians will not forgive the PDP if it by any means allow the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) win the 2023 general elections because of “avoidable and resolvable crisis.”

President of the PDP Youths Movement, Engr. Salaudeen Lukman, in a statement on Wednesday also alleged the crisis rocking the PDP is a clear handiwork of external forces suspected to be that of the ruling party.

They accused the APC of sponsoring intruders to destabilise the major opposition party ahead of 2023 general elections.

The Youths said: “Similar style was adopted prior to 2015 general election towards the tail end of Alh Bananga Tukur regime as National Chairman of our dear party, an external sponsored crisis threw the party into internal crisis which degenerated to the extent it later paved way for a mole into Wadata Plaza who further destabilized PDP to enable the APC win 2015 general election.”

According to them: “We are terribly terrified with the news of court order secured by a purported PDP members from River state who is obviously serving the interest of ruling APC against the outgoing National chairman of our dear party Hon. Uche Secondus.

“One will imagine the need for such legal battle after the expanded stakeholders intervention including Board of Trustee, Governor’s Forum and other reputable leaders of the party with resolve to hold National Convention of the party by October as against December when the incumbent leadership is supposed to be due in office.

“As much we have not taken side in the ongoing crisis, we commend Hon Uche Secondus for his heroic disposition, maturity and absolute respect for rule of law, handling over to National Deputy Chairman North following the court order is exceptional and commendable.

“It further teaches the ruling party APC to be a respecter of court order and rule of law at large even when it seems not favourable to personal or group interest.

“It is important we state categorically that PDP youths across the country will not take it lightly with our party leaders and stakeholders if they fail to step up effort to arrest this uprising and resolve all lingering crisis in Ernest.
