He was inaugurated as a distinguished Senator of the 9th Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on June 2019. He survived a ghastly car accident on September 6, 2019, at a time the 9th assembly was on annual recess.

Hardly did his constituents know he had multiple fractures on his left leg and survived a brain surgery which created a vacuum for almost a year due to the lethargy created by the accident.

Though he is still supporting himself to walk with crutches while carrying out his constitutional duties at the Senate. But less down two months of his full recovery, he has closed many gaps created by the accident – evidence by his recent performance at plenary and his contributions to national issues.

His programmes, advocacies for the development of Ondo South and obvious contributions to national issues, are testimonies that Tofowomo is a productive Lawmaker and a true representative of the people who is up to the task.

His recent call for a Judicial Inquiry over the activities of the notorious police unit known as #Endsars which has now led to the ongoing judicial inquiry across the 36 states of Nigeria promotes the man in him.

His recent alarm at the Senate on the ocean disaster in Aiyetoro community of Ilaje local government area of Ondo State exposes his quality representation at the chamber.

The Senate directive on the ministry of Education recently to build e-validation results portal to mitigate the use of fake results in Nigeria was as a result of a motion moved by Senator Tofowomo on the urgent need to compel all tertiary institutions in Nigeria to subscribe to e-validation of results portal so that employers and relevant organisations within and outside Nigeria can verify the school results and certificates of Nigerians.

Tofowomo, a distinguished Lawmaker from Ondo South with a distinguished voice, said on Tuesday that Nigeria is gradually becoming a failed state. He urged the leadership of the Senate to take responsibility for the high level of insecurity in Nigeria.

Besides his unprecedented productive projects and empowerment programmes which is a deviation from the old older, Nicholas Tofowomo, in less than two months, hit the Senate with a bill to establish Federal School of Basic Studies, Ileoluji, Ondo State, and with another, Tertiary Education Trust Fund Act 2007(Amendment Bill 2020).

When asked what drives him, he says a good preparation provokes good results, saying he is only executing his blueprint and as such, the job is a bit easier for him because he was already prepared for the task ahead the very first day he nurtured the ambition to become a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Tofowomo is truly the first elected Senator in the class of the best from Ondo South since the return of democracy in 1999.
