”Beggars die, there are no comments seen; the heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes.” These immortal words of William Shakespeare came to the fore on Saturday, November28, 2020, in Ode Irele, headquarters of Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State, as the remains of Chief (Mrs) Harret Oyekunle Olowo (Nee Olowofoyekun), the Iyaloja of Ode Irele were interred

Her remains were interred with full-service of honours by selected ministers of Christ Apostolic Church, amidst tributes and tears by family, traditional chiefs, family friends and community leaders.

All the children led by Mr Kola Ayorinde paid tributes to late Mrs Harret as she was committed to mother earth.

Biography of late chief (Mrs) Harret Oyekunle

Chief (Mrs) Harret Oyekunle Olowo was born in 1947 to the late Pa. Olowofoyekun Akinmudiro of Bamoyegun quarters in Ode Irele and her mother, the late Mrs Uwamerun Olowofeyekun from Ode Erinje in Okitipupa local government area of Ondo State.

Mama Oye as fondly called was an industrious and successful businesswoman, who’s businesses transverse through the length and breadth of this country. She was into the following ventures: Logs and wooden planks, a super dealer in local gin (Ogogoro), a dealer in yams, kola nuts and clothes.

It is on record that mama Oye was the first woman that brought a trailer load of yams to Irele market for sales.

She was installed by late Oba Feyisara Odimayo in 1991 as chief (Mrs) Asuhilere of Ode Irele, and in the year 1996, mama was equally installed by the late Oba Olarewaju Lebi as Iyaloja of Ode Irele where she became the head of all the Iyalojas in Irele local government till her demise.

Mama was a member and principal officer (Assistant Financial Secretary) of Ondo State council of Iyalojas till her death on August 16, 2020.

Among mama Oye’s peer groups include late Madam Loto, late mama Rakel, late mama Ogunsusi, (Iyaloja General ), late madam Ruth Olowekere (Madam do good), Iyaloja General of Ondo State of blessed memories. Etc.

Despite the busy schedules of mama, she was Godly and trained all her children in the ways of good Christians. She was a disciplinarian who has never spear the rod on any of her children on wrongdoing until her late years on this sinful world.

Speaking to Starnews Nigeria in an interview on Saturday, her first son, Mr Kola Ayorinde, described his late mother as a precious gift from God with so much beauty, grace, love, patience with a high level of a forgiving spirit.

Asked why he was weeping uncontrolably on Friday night, Mr. Ayorinde said his mother death was painful and that he could not hold back tears anytime he thinks about the memory they both shared in the past.

He advised other siblings and promised to lead them in sustaining the legacy left behind by their mother (late Mrs. Harriet Oyekunle).

On Saturday at Methodist Primary School in Irele, it was fun and party thing, as guests were entertained by Popular Musician, Omo Oba Ademola Suzi as high net worth individuals, politicians, traditional chiefs, family and community leaders graced the occasion.
