Residents of the Aba Alfa area in Boluwaji, Ibadan, Oyo State, were thrown into panic and disbelief on Thursday after the body of a woman, popularly known as Iya Dupe, was discovered in what appears to be a brutal ritual killing.
According to neighbours, the victim was last seen on Wednesday night when she stepped out to buy bread but never returned home, raising immediate concern among those close to her. Their fears were confirmed the following morning when her lifeless body was discovered with several vital parts — including her head, breasts, and internal organs — gruesomely removed.
A disturbing video circulating on social media and obtained by SaharaReporters shows shocked residents wailing at the scene, describing the discovery as “terrifying,” “evil,” and “unlike anything they had ever witnessed.”
Police officers later arrived at the location, cordoned off the area, and evacuated the remains into a waiting van. Authorities have not yet made any arrests, and investigations are ongoing.
The incident has heightened fear among residents, who are now calling for increased security presence in the community. Many are urging the Oyo State Government and law enforcement agencies to act swiftly to track down those responsible and put an end to the growing menace of ritual-related killings.
As at the time of filing this report, the perpetrators remain unknown, and the community continues to mourn the tragic death of Iya Dupe.
