Falconets attacker, Esther Onyenezide 25-yard shot in the 82nd minute was all Nigeria needed to pip South Korea and picked one of the two group’s quarterfinal tickets.

 

Esther fires in from a long range to beat keeper Kim Kyeng-Hee and breaks the deadlock after a long search for winning goal at the ongoing 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Alajuela|

 

With the win, Falconets are topping group C with maximum 6 points and have already qualified for the quarterfinal which would be secured if the match between Canada and France ends draw. Falconets had started searching for goals from the blast of the whistle as Bashirat Amoo’s third minute long range shot from a free-kick was calmly saved by Korean goalkeeper. The first half ended in barren draw.

 

In her first attempt, the scorer forced keeper Kim to a save with her superb long range effort in the 53rd before her attempt found the back of the net 30 minutes later.

 

European champions, France will trade tackles with Canada later today at 4pm (Nigeria time) while Falconets last group game comes up on Thursday against Canada at 4pm. The Nigeria U20 women national team are two times finalists in 2010 and 2014.
