The Federal Government has approved the appointment of new principal officers for the FUTA Teaching Hospital, Akure, in a move aimed at strengthening the institution’s leadership as it advances towards becoming a full-fledged tertiary healthcare centre for Ondo State and neighbouring regions.
The latest appointments complete the hospital’s top management structure, following the earlier selection of Dr. Olaseinde Bello as Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) in September.
Among the newly appointed officers is Mrs. Helen Nike Ajayi, now Director of Administration. She previously served as Deputy Director of Administration at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo. A seasoned administrator, Mrs. Ajayi holds a B.Sc. in Public Administration and an M.Sc. in Managerial Psychology.
Dr. Olaniyi Ogunleye has been named Director of Finance. He was formerly Assistant Director of Internal Audit at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, Ile-Ife.
His academic qualifications include Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees in Accounting, alongside a Master’s in Public Administration.
Other key appointments include Mr. Alatanye Taiye Solomon as Head of Internal Audit and Mr. Folorunsho Abidakun as Chief Procurement Officer. Mr. Solomon, a Chartered Accountant, brings extensive professional experience in financial oversight, while Mr. Abidakun is a certified procurement specialist with credentials from the National Bureau of Public Procurement and the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigeria.
With the leadership team now fully constituted, the management says the hospital is poised to deepen reforms, strengthen internal systems, and improve service delivery across all departments.
Chief Medical Director, Professor Olusegun Ojo, described the appointments as a landmark in the institution’s development.
“These appointments signal the beginning of a transformative era that will reposition the hospital to fulfil its mandate of providing high-quality tertiary healthcare to the people,” he said.
The restructuring is expected to accelerate the hospital’s readiness for full-scale operations and significantly enhance healthcare development in the region.
